Dr. John P. Costella
What's New?
As of Friday, 14 July 1995, I forbid the accessing, downloading, or
usage of the CostelLaTeX macro package and UnMacro program
by any French citizen,
EXCEPT for any such citizens who have publicly and demonstrably
voiced their opposition to the nuclear tests in the Pacific, and
for which this opposition is publicly accessible in a signed
statement available for viewing on a World Wide Web page.
These restrictions are made by private choice, and do not necessarily
reflect the official views of the University of Melbourne or its office bearers.
The restrictions will remain in place while Mr Jacques Chirac continues
to hold any democratically-elected political office in France.

These are the notes for the Introduction to LaTeX seminars that I
present every six months or so.
Note that the complete set of notes takes HOURS to
print, even on the fastest departmental printers.
You should team up with colleagues, to have the notes
photocopied in bulk.
I take NO responsibility for anyone printing
these notes recklessly.
Please contact the person originating the print job
if you have a problem with this.
Although they have been comprehensively superceded by the
current LaTeX seminar notes, a
number of people still want access to the
LaTeX seminar notes source files
I have made the entire set of source files for the above
Introduction to LaTeX seminar notes
available by anonymous-ftp.
These source files also serve as a useful guide to using the
CostelLaTeX macro package.
For a full, detailed description of how to use the functionality of
the CostelLaTeX macro package, see my
Introduction to LaTeX seminar notes.
This program reads in an arbitrary LaTeX file, reading in any
files included in that file, expanding out all LaTeX macros
it finds, and writing the result to a single LaTeX source file.
If you LaTeX this output file, you get exactly the SAME output
DVI file (byte for byte) as when you LaTeX the original file.
This program is most useful for producing an output file of a
CostelLaTeX document, to post overseas; the recipient need not
even know what CostelLaTeX is, let alone have the
macro package themselves. It is also useful for producing
electronic RevTeX submissions for the Physical Review (who do
not allow macros in compuscripts at all).
- ANSI C source files (20-Sep-95, Version 1.05)
[FTP:
25 ANSI C source files: 518 kB].
This lets you retrieve the source files by anonymous-ftp,
for you to build this program yourself.
You'll need an ANSI C compiler, and you need
to know how to use it.
- MS-DOS executable (20-Sep-95, Version 1.05)
[FTP:
MS-DOS EXE + INI: 86 kB].
This is an executable file that should run on any
MS-DOS machine. Don't forget to copy (or construct) the INI file.
If you have a CostelLaTeX document that causes this executable to
run out of memory, use the version below.
- MS-DOS executable that uses extended
or expanded memory (20-Sep-95, Version 1.05)
[FTP:
MS-DOS EXE + INI: 174 kB].
This is the same executable as above, except that it has been
compiled with djgpp. It requires a 386 or higher processor,
and is a little faster. Its main advantage is that it will
automatically make use of extended or expanded memory if you
are running it under DOS with emm386 or qemm, or under Windows.
